We are committed to safety is reflected in every aspect of our business – from our well-maintained infrastructure to our investment in new, state-of-the-art equipment. However, our commitment is most evident in the culture of safety awareness at FEC Railway. We strive to ensure that our employees are provided with all of the tools and training they need to perform their jobs safely.
Our employees receive ongoing job-based training on safety and operating policies. We also ensure they are knowledgeable regarding all company safety policies and regulatory requirements.
Our management teams conduct unannounced safety and compliance audits and address any incidents of unsafe behaviors immediately. These steps are all designed to ensure our employees are working in the safest environment possible.
Employees are recognized for safe work habits and accomplishments. As a company, we have been a past recipient of both the President’s Award and the Jake Award Certificate. Both awards are sponsored by the American Short Line & Regional Railroading Association Safety Committee. Recipients are selected based on performance against Federal Railroad Administration (FRA) standards and industry averages.
We comply with requirements and guidelines of the Federal Railroad Administration (FRA), an agency that governs safety standards and equipment. FEC Highway Services employees are also in compliance with rules and regulations for truck drivers, governed by the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA), an agency within the Department of Transportation (DOT).
