INTERMODAL SERVICES

At the present time Florida East Coast Railway (FEC) is unique among the RailAmerica affiliates in that intermodal traffic is a dominant part of our business.

As intermodal volume across North America increases yearly due to increased costs in fuel, driver capacity, hours of service rules and it just being an economical solution to customers’ needs, the FEC has packaged the line-haul rail moves with a drayage service to get the cargo to the customer’s door. FEC and FEC Highway Services offer customers a unique portfolio of services between Atlanta and South Florida. Retail customers count on the FEC to provide these transportation services to move their commodities consistently on-time and damage free.

FEC interchanges with CSX and NS at Jacksonville bringing intermodal business into Florida from all over the North American continent. Southeast Florida is a busy metropolitan area and a major export/import arena for goods and services. FEC moves over 300,000 intermodal units per year.
